Andrii Fomenko delivered presentation about the work of Dnipropetrovsk State University of Internal Affairs, dwelt upon the specific character of police officers training, cooperation of the specialized higher educational establishments with international organizations, priority areas of activity, as well as the achievements of the leading higher educational institution of Pridneprovya in recent years and made emphasis that a comprehensive, interdisciplinary approach to educational process is being used at the university. It combines the scientific achievement and practical experience of the lecturers, innovative forms of training that tie up the traditional teaching of theory and resolving practical situational issues, conducting special trainings under simulated realistic conditions. The system of police training includes a closed cycle of law enforcement and judicial practice in the development of typical educational phrases about unlawful (illegal) acts. The achievement of the University in recent years are the creation of 5 modern training centers, one of which has been opened with support of OSCE in Ukraine. It is being used in the educational process both for gaining practical skills while performing operational and duty tasks, and career enhancement training of the National Police of Ukraine staff.
Dnipropetrovsk State University of Internal Affairs was admitted to the Association of European Police Colleges by unanimous decision of the Executive Committee. DSUIA has became the 55-th member of AEPC. Collaboration with the Association of European Police Colleges well enable the representatives of the institution exchange practical experience, participate in joint events and projects aimed at training the police in accordance with modern international standards, as well as to establish cooperation with educational institutions for the application in the educational process of the latest combating international crimes practices.
Within the framework of the event Andrii Fomenko, had a conversation with the management of the Association, in particular with President Norbert Leitner and his deputies, the Head of the Police Academy of the Repiblic of Azerbaijan, Police Major General Nazim Aliyev, had a meeting with the representatives of educational institutions and police structures from Austria, the Czech Republic, Turkey, Latvia, Italy, Georgia, also with Police Affairs Officer/Adviser on Police Reform, OSCE Transnational Threats Department, and discussed with them the areas of further cooperation.
The issue of a potential visit for getting acquainted and exchange experience with the educational organizations, methods used in the educational process and while working out professional skills of tactical and special training and career enhancement training of police officers was discussed with the Director of Norwegian Police University College Nina Skarpenes and Vice-President of the German Police University in Munster Matthias Zeiser.
