Informational event “NATO Day” was held at Dnipropetrovsk State University of Internal Affairs. The representatives of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Government Office for Coordination of European and Euro-Atlantic Integration of the Secretariat of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, experts of the NATO International Secretariat as well as specialists, cadets and students of higher educational institutions of the MIA system took part in it.
The key peculiarity was the event interactive format – questions-answers. During the meeting speakers could communicate with the audience, while applicants for higher education asked questions. Andrii Fomenko, DSUIA Rector, police colonel, Serhii Komissarov, vice-rector, police general of the third rank, as well as the management of all student and cadet DSUIA faculties were present at the event.
Tetiana Kovalchuk, Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, opened the meeting. She claimed euro-integration to be the priority.
“Today euro-integration policy is the Ukrainians’ will. Surely, integration with NATO is not a one-day step. However, we have a common paradigm of expectations from each other as well as a sequent and stable course towards cooperation with NATO. It is a mutual movement we are passing together”, she emphasized.
Vineta Kleine, director of the NATO Information and Documentation Centre in Ukraine, greeted all the participants.
“I wish all of you fruitful educational process, actual questions and active position. Our event is a wonderful opportunity to become more aware of NATO”, she stated.
Besides, the participants could watch the recorded greetings of Carmen Romero, NATO Deputy Assistant Secretary General for Public Diplomacy.
The speakers included Tanya Hartman, head of NATO Political Affairs and Security Policy Division; Barbora Maronkova, director of NATO Information and Documentation Centre in Kyiv; Inna Potapova, head of the expert group in annual national programs under the Ukraine-NATO Commission of the Government Office for Coordination of European and Euro-Atlantic Integration of the Secretariat of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine; Liudmyla Chubynska, head of the main office of the European and Euro-Atlantic Integration of the MIA Strategic Planning and European Integration Directorate.
Moreover, Anastasia Mishkina, top project manager for Ukraine-NATO Professional Development Program; Nadia Milanova, representative of the NATO Building Integrity Program; Vineta Kleine, director of the NATO Information and Documentation Centre in Ukraine, presented their reports during the meeting.
The event included such issues as key principles and priorities of NATO activity, NATO-2030 strategy, current plan and perspectives of Euro-Atlantic integration in security sector, practical support of Ukraine on the example of the Professional Development NATO Program, strategic communications and combatting disinformation, etc.
