Extracurricular interdisciplinary course “Organizational and Technical Aspects of Public Security Provision: Best European Practices” started at Dnipropetrovsk State University of Internal Affairs for Master degree applicants (2nd year of studies) of the Preventive Activity Faculty. Within two weeks, representatives of the European Union Advisory Mission and DSUIA lecturers will be sharing the best European practices in public order provision with applicants for higher education.
The official opening of the training course took place yesterday at DSUIA. Oleksandr Yunin, temporary acting rector, police lieutenant colonel; Jose Barreto, head of the EUAM Public Order Unit; Nuno Simoes, Public Order (crowd management) advisor/trainer, as well as Vitalii Nahurianskyi, public order expert, participated in the event.
Oleksandr Yunin, temporary acting rector, greeted the audience on the start of the new classes cycle. He mentioned that the Mission experts would present the best European practices of applying contemporary model of public order provision devoted to establishing communication with organizers and participants of mass events.
“You are the first to obtain deep knowledge in the new concept of public order provision from the EUAM experts. I am confident, they will share precious experience, while you will demonstrate professional skills, team work, complex maneuvers, crowd dispersion tactics as well as general provision and establishment of public order”, Oleksandr Yunin emphasized.
Pilot training for masters will last for two weeks. Lecturers of the Preventive Activity Faculty will hold classes along with the EUAM representatives.
In terms of the studies, applicants for higher education will master legislative enforcement of public security provision, police tactics with the Scandinavian model elements of public security provision and public order under special conditions. In addition, they will work over police actions algorithm while providing public order at mass events.
Training results will be summed-up at the beginning of December. Applicants for higher education will obtain relevant certificates upon the completion of the course.
