Literacy without Boarders

Dnipropetrovsk State University of Internal Affairs adopted the introducing of a new educational course “Literacy without Borders” by the Ministry of Digital Transformation into the educational process. The educational series shows how to implement inclusive approaches in economics, education and state services on the example of typical life situations. Everyone interested can watch it for free.

Olena Zelenska, the First Lady, initiated the creation of this course in partnership with Tetiana Lomakina, the President’s of Ukraine advisor on barrier-free issues, “Bezbariernist” social organization, representatives of civil society and experts supported by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and with the financial support of the Government of Denmark.

According to the course developers, the Ukrainian society suffers from certain limitations for different groups in terms of barrier-free access to the infrastructure, transport, employment, education, public informational services, services provided by the state and business, etc. The new course available at “Dia. Digital Education” will make people aware of the key principles of a barrier-free environment on the example of daily life situations.

The course covers the following aspects: What does the notion “barrier-free” mean? What creates barriers? Who does this notion embrace? Why we should avoid stereotypes and prejudice? Are Ukrainians ready to overcome the barriers? Why we need barrier-free environment as a society? Why barrier-free environment is a common thing?
