A new concept of higher education: the rector of DSUIA is working on the development of relevant principles together with 300 leaders of higher education institutions of the world!

NEWS

Rector of the Dnipropetrovsk State University of Internal Affairs, police colonel Andriy Fomenko, joined the 16th General Conference “Relevance and value of universities for the future society”, which is being held at the University College in Dublin (Ireland). About 300 leaders of higher education institutions from around the world are taking part in the large-scale scientific discussion. More on the first key results.

The event is organized by the International Association of Universities and is held offline for the first time since the international conference in Puebla (Mexico), which took place in 2019 before the pandemic. Thus, within the framework of the conference, it is planned to discuss the role of higher education in society and its contribution to building a sustainable and inclusive future, as well as the response of education to local needs in a globalized world, unlocking knowledge systems for an interconnected future, as well as a new concept of education, etc.

As part of the event, Rector Andrii Fomenko held working meetings with the President of the International Association of Universities (IAU) Pam Freedman and the Deputy Secretary General of the International Association of Universities Andreas Corcoran.

Thus, the head of the DSUIA presented the activities of the institution of higher education and talked about the peculiarities of the professional training of cadets and students, as well as socially significant projects that are implemented at the university even in the conditions of a full-scale war. Andrii Fomenko also presented the university’s powerful material and technical base.

Within the framework of the meetings, in particular, a number of issues regarding the entry of the Dnipropetrovsk State University of Internal Affairs into the International Association of Universities were discussed. Thus, agreements were reached regarding the full membership of DSUIA in the association. The corresponding package of documents is already being prepared and will soon be sent to the association.

It should be noted that the 16th General Conference “The relevance and value of universities for the future society” will continue at the University College in Dublin until October 28. The peculiarity of its concept is the desire to rethink the meaning of higher education for the future. How can universities be leaders? What is the impact of internationalization of higher education? How can we ensure that society as a whole learns from the achievements of universities in solving the problems we face? These and other questions will be raised by the conference participants during the event.
