Dnipropetrovsk State University of Internal Affairs once again opened its doors to guests. More than 400 future applicants and their parents came to the Open Day event. What was shown and what surprised us this time is detailed in our material.
The open door day at the DSUIA traditionally started with communication. Vlada Litoshko, head of the pre-university training department, addressed the guests with a welcome speech, after which the university representatives presented the available specialties and the material and technical base of the institution, and outlined the conditions for living in the dormitories. Separately, they focused on the introductory campaign, its features this year, and the opportunity to join the preparatory courses. All exciting aspects were jointly discussed in a Q&A format.
The highlight of the event was the career orientation and entertainment quest, which involved individual competitions and the performance of practical tasks. The participants were taught to detect counterfeit bills using a special UV light. Together with the institution’s specialists, the guests looked and found the original security features of each banknote, and also tried to independently identify the observed currency.
The next stage was the use of forensic habitology. Boys and girls received folders with a series of photos, and two descriptions based on the characteristics of a person’s appearance. The task was to correctly identify people based on a verbal portrait.
Fingerprinting, an integral technique in the process of investigating criminal offenses, was also not overlooked. Everyone was able to professionally remove fingerprints using real equipment.
A separate series of exercises were prepared for the guests by the department of tactical and special training. In particular, putting on a bulletproof vest, applying a “tourniquet harness”, selecting keys for handcuffs, etc. This is where the real competition unfolded – after all, all tasks were performed under conditions of limited time!
A tour of the territory helped them to immerse themselves in the specifics of studying at the institution. Prospective entrants visited several locations at once: for example, at the location of special physical training they tried to perform a complex strength exercise from the exam program, and at the shooting range “RUBIN-U” they even held firearms in their hands!
The “Combating domestic violence” training ground showed the guests the real work of the investigative team at the scene of the crime. The performance of official tasks by cadets was observed in real-time – on a large screen in an interactive classroom.
Together with the specialists of the university, the future entrants understood the specifics of the registration of traffic accidents. Guests tried to get from point A to point B with the help of glasses with the simulation of drunkenness, which distort the road.
Finally, they visited psychologists: to relax and pass career guidance tests.
Full of knowledge and unforgettable emotions, the guests of the university gathered in the conference hall, where the award ceremony of the best team and participants took place. The winner received a certificate for discounted preparatory courses, and the rest of the participants received incentive prizes.
There were also photo sessions: OPEN DAY participants gladly posed for memorable photos with specialists and cadets of the university.
