The driving school for people with disabilities at Dnipropetrovsk State University of Internal Affairs was the first to start training students to obtain a driver’s license in category C1. One of the students passed the theoretical part of the exam and is preparing for the practical part.
Oleksandr is studying at the driving school for people with disabilities at DSUIA. He is reaching categories B and C1 at the same time. The military man confidently passed the theoretical exam. This is another step to opening his logistics business.
The next step for Oleksandr will be practical classes and passing the practical part of the exam.
Why is getting a driver’s license so important for people with disabilities? During the full-scale Russian invasion, the number of servicemen who were injured or received injuries of various degrees of severity is constantly increasing. At the same time, the problem of their employment has become relevant.
Having mastered the profession of category C1 driver, people with disabilities will be able to significantly expand their opportunities to find decent work. In addition, they will feel more confident driving under all weather conditions and in extreme situations after completing emergency driving training.
Students of the driving school will be trained on a specially equipped truck (3.5-7.5 tons) with manual control. The facility has all the conditions for a comfortable stay. There are ramps at the entrance, a separate bathroom, and a multimedia classroom.
The unique project of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine was implemented as part of the National Strategy for the Creation of a Barrier-Free Space and at the initiative of the First Lady of Ukraine, Olena Zelenska, “Without Barriers”. The project is aimed at social adaptation to public life and equal opportunities for everyone who has a disability (disabilities of the musculoskeletal system) and seeks to master the skills of driving a car.
The driving school provides an opportunity to acquire driving skills and a driver’s license or learn to drive a car with manual control V/C1 (if you have a driver’s license).
