The purpose of the event was to discuss current issues of rehabilitation of veterans, issues of building a veteran sports community in the region, and prospects of rehabilitation through sports.
The Dnipropetrovsk Regional Military Administration and the public organization “Strongman Federation of Ukraine” were among the organizers of the event.
The following distinguished guests welcomed the participants:
- Serhii Lysak, the Head of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional State Administration;
- Oleksandr Morhunov, the Rector of Dnipropetrovsk State University of Internal Affairs;
- Oleksandr Zugravy, the Head of the Regional Department of the Territorial Defense Forces “East” of the Armed Forces of Ukraine;
- Volodymyr Hordiychuk, the Head of the Central Territorial Administration of the Ukrainian National Guard;
- Oleksiy Dubovik, the Head of the Dnipropetrovsk Territorial Centre of Recruitment and Social Support;
- Vasyl Virastyuk, a people’s deputy of Ukraine and honorary president of the public organizations “Strongman Federation of Ukraine” and others.
Three panel discussions “Sports and rehabilitation policy in the regional context”, “The role of sports in the rehabilitation of veterans,” and “The path to recovery: the experience of veterans” took place within the framework of the forum.
During the speeches, those present emphasized the need for an open and high-quality dialogue between war veterans, state authorities at all levels, and representatives of businesses providing sports and health services.
The speakers stated that the involvement of veterans in the “Strong of Ukraine” competition can be an effective tool for rehabilitation through sports.
