The goal of the class is to acquire skills in settling disputes with the help of a mediator, who helps conflict parties establish a communication process and analyze a conflict situation.
It was emphasized that mediation is an informal, non-court, confidential, and comprehensive procedure wherein the parties, with the assistance of a mediator or mediators, attempt to prevent conflicts or disputes through negotiations. The mediator does not make decisions, but rather moderates the dialogue and assists the parties in their understanding process.
The third-year students of the National Institute of Law and Training of Specialists for the National Police of DSUIA noted that the discussion during the elective course on the main tasks and stages of mediation offers a chance to apply the acquired abilities in future endeavors.
