At the DSUIA, events were held to commemorate the Day of Resistance to the Occupation of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol

The commemorative date was established in 2020 by the Decree of the President of Ukraine No. 58 to honor the bravery and heroism of Ukrainian citizens residing in the temporarily occupied territory.

During the morning formation, the Deputy Rector of the DSUIA, Police Colonel Oleksandr Yunin, addressed the cadets: «This year marks the 10th anniversary of the rally held on February 26, 2014, in Simferopol in support of the territorial integrity of Ukraine, with the participation of Crimean Tatars, Ukrainians, and representatives of other nationalities. The Day of Resistance to the Occupation of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol symbolizes the resistance to the occupation that has been ongoing for ten years».

At the end of the events, cadets and officers marched ceremoniously. In the assembly hall of the DSUIA, the head of the Department of Educational, Social, Humanitarian, and Cultural Work, Natalia Karnaukh, organized a patriotic event, during which all present honored the memory of the fallen freedom fighters with a minute of silence.

The attendees watched a presentation on the events in Crimea in 2014 and a documentary film «The Voice of Crimea.Nariman Dzhelal» about the Crimean political prisoner, politician, lecturer, political scientist, and journalist. In the conditions of Russian occupation, he remained a voice defending the rights of people in occupied Crimea, representing the true life on the peninsula.

«Nariman Dzhelal is a true fighter, a leader who managed to rally resistance forces and lead them. It is thanks to him that the world learned about the real events in occupied Crimea», – emphasized Natalia Karnaukh.
