At the Dnipropetrovsk State University of Internal Affairs, the opening of a training course on the prevention and counteraction of violence took place.

The training will be beneficial for professionals working at the local level in the field of preventing and combating domestic and gender-based violence.

The event was opened by the Rector of the Dnipropetrovsk State University of Internal Affairs, Doctor of Law, Professor, Police Colonel Oleksandr MORGUNOV. He noted that the issue of domestic and gender-based violence remains relevant for Ukrainian society.

Among the speakers were the Deputy Head of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Military Administration Nadia ZADOROZHNA; the Deputy Head of the Monitoring Department for Human Rights Compliance – Head of the Gender Equality Compliance Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, Doctor of Philosophy in Law Olga PERUNOVA; a member of the board of the Ukrainian Association of Law Enforcement Officers, head of the support sector of the patrol police department in Poltava region, Police Captain Natalia NOVIKOVA; the Director of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Social Services Center Liliya KALITYUK, and the head of the juvenile prevention department of the National Police of Dnipropetrovsk region, Police Major Viktoriia HARKACH. The event was moderated by the Assistant Rector of the State University on Gender Issues, Doctor of Law, Professor, Honored Lawyer of Ukraine Larysa NALYVAIKO.

Speakers emphasized that one of the priority tasks is the prevention and counteraction of domestic and gender-based violence, as it poses a serious threat to the physical and psychological well-being of people, especially vulnerable groups such as women, children, internally displaced persons, persons with disabilities, elderly people, etc. In particular, they also highlighted the problem of domestic violence in conditions of martial law, as the number of violence cases has increased compared to previous years due to the crisis circumstances faced by a significant part of the population of our state.

The event was attended by nearly 250 participants, including professionals working in the field of preventing and combating domestic violence at the local level, as well as specialists providing services to victims.

The course consists of 10 online trainings/webinars, the main goal of which is to develop competencies in participants for preventing and countering domestic violence, raising their level of awareness regarding the interaction of National Police authorities with entities implementing measures in the field of violence prevention, justifying the need for interaction among entities in the field of preventing and countering domestic violence in order to provide assistance and protection to victims of domestic and gender-based violence, applying preventive measures as effective methods for preventing domestic violence, etc.

Upon completion of the training, participants of the professional training will be able to organize activities for working with offenders and conducting preventive work with them, interact with entities implementing measures in the field of preventing and countering domestic violence, as well as acquire skills in providing assistance and protection to victims of domestic and gender-based violence, applying preventive measures as effective methods for preventing domestic violence, etc.
