As part of the national-patriotic education program, cadets were treated to a screening of the film “Free Man. Farewell.”

Third-year students of the Institute of Law and Training of Specialists for Units of the National Police learned about the story of Valeriy Markus – the chief sergeant of the 47th Separate Mechanized Brigade “Magura,” a blogger, and a traveler. For three years, he actively participated in combat operations in eastern Ukraine, after which he embarked on a walking pilgrimage along the route of Saint James. This journey along the coasts of France and Spain to Cape Finisterre helped him reflect on his experiences and understand where to move on next.

The film covers the period from 2014 to 2020 and consists of Valeriy’s personal videos from the front lines and travels. According to the cadets, the film beautifully illustrates the challenges of military personnel adapting to ordinary civilian life. And the story of the main character can serve as inspiration for defenders who are already returning from the front lines and redefining themselves in civilian life.
