Within the framework of the project “Driving School for People with Disabilities” at DSUIA, a comprehensive and high-quality service for teaching vehicle control to individuals with disabilities and obtaining their driver’s licenses has been established. Today, another student of the Driving School at DSUIA received a Category B driver’s license.
It took Serhiy only 48 hours to make a responsible decision: on February 26, 2022, he enlisted to defend Ukraine from enemy invasion. He assured that he saw no other option for himself, as he had previously served in the army and always knew how to handle weapons, so the decision was neither impulsive nor unweighed. Serhiy’s wife and family supported him, understanding the importance of everyone on the front lines, especially in the early days.
After sustaining a severe injury, Serhiy underwent rehabilitation and started a new life: he decided to obtain a driver’s license to be independent of the conditions and schedules of public transportation. When asked about his previous driving experience, Serhiy smiled and recounted his experience driving an armored personnel carrier (BTR) in military conditions, noting that the practical part of learning to drive a car also came easily.
The first vice-rector of DSUIA, Ihor MAGDALINA, joined the driver’s license presentation ceremony.
At the Driving School for People with Disabilities at DSUIA, individuals can receive services for studying theory and acquiring practical driving skills, pass theoretical and practical exams, and obtain a driver’s license. If necessary, they can also receive training/skills in driving a vehicle with manual controls, Categories B and/or C1.
