Cadets of Dnipropetrovsk State University participated in a workshop to create mini-embroidered shirts for the soldiers of the 128th Territorial Defense Brigade. The initiative was organized by the Youth Center of Dnipro.
This year’s Embroidery Day in Dnipro carries the theme “Embroidering Victory.” The workshop was led by the master of the embroidery club at the Municipal Institution for Extracurricular Education “Kryla” of the Dnipro City Council, Oksana Stanislavova.
Participants learned to embroider talismans – the eight-pointed star “Alatyr,” which consists of a combination of straight and diagonal crosses. In Ukrainian folk art, the straight cross represents the male principle, while the diagonal cross represents the female principle. The combination of these two symbols gives life. The embroidery was done using the “overlay” and “stapling” techniques. Through this symbol, the participants wished the defenders strength, life, health, and courage.
Later, the Youth Center of Dnipro will deliver the embroidered shirts to the defenders of the 128th Territorial Defense Brigade.
The event was part of the “Friendly Support” project of the Department of Education, Science, and Sports of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. #friendly_support
