On Embroidery Day, representatives of Dnipropetrovsk State University of Internal Affairs gathered at the parade ground and created the heavenly protective symbol of Dazhboh. The event was attended by Rector Oleksandr MORHUNOV.

Embroidery Day is an international holiday established in 2006 to preserve ancient folk traditions of creating and wearing ethnic Ukrainian embroidered clothing. Traditionally celebrated every year on the third Thursday of May.

Participants of the event created Dazhboh, an ancient Slavic heavenly protective symbol, using ribbons in the colors of the State Flag of Ukraine, which is depicted on embroidered shirts.

Nataliia KARNAUKH, the head of the Department of Educational, Social, Humanitarian, and Cultural-Mass Work at DSUIA, noted that today’s event is an element of national-patriotic education. According to her, such events contribute to the elevation and affirmation of Ukrainian national and civic identity.
