Embroidery Day is a bright and distinctive holiday celebrated annually in May. It’s a day when Ukrainians and the whole world honor Ukrainian traditions and dress in national attire to express their Ukrainian identity.
The Ukrainian embroidered shirt, or “vyshyvanka,” appeared many centuries ago, and the number of different patterns and stitching techniques is countless. Today, in 2024, Ukraine is embroidering its victory step by step with its own patterns: strength, resilience, determination, and confidence in the future generations.
Today, all Ukrainians unite to emphasize the importance of the holiday itself, the greatness of Ukrainian culture, and the love for national symbols. We must always remember who we are, where we came from, our roots. National memory is that unbreakable treasure that we will carry through the years and generations to pass on to our descendants.
May today be bright and filled with pride for being Ukrainian!
Happy holiday!
Glory to Ukraine!
