As part of the implementation of the sports component of the regional socio-educational project “TitansUA,” initiated by the head of the region, Serhiy LISAK, military veterans undergo weekly training at the university. The athletes were supported by Rector Oleksandr MORGUNOV.
According to the project’s trainers, table tennis for individuals with disabilities is one of the optimal sports as it enhances coordination and carries a low risk of injuries. The training was conducted by Vasyl KOVAL, the Ukrainian Table Tennis Champion. Long-time table tennis players emphasize the need to focus on various aspects during the game, including scorekeeping, game tactics, and current play. One of the crucial components of the game is maximum attentiveness at the moment. Therefore, besides physical development, table tennis also improves quick thinking and analytical skills.
During the training session, veterans worked on the correctness of movements in table tennis, honing their skills, and improving the accuracy of strikes.
Additionally, boxing training was conducted. Athletes who attended the session had previous experience with active training, and the decision to return to training was made for rehabilitation purposes.
The training is led by experienced instructors from the Department of Special Physical Training at DSUIA. Veteran participants state that boxing sessions allow them to receive moderate physical exertion and greatly enhance endurance.
