Cadets from the Faculty of Training for Preventive Activities Units at the Dnipropetrovsk State University of Internal Affairs participated in the event.
Every year, on the third Sunday of May, Ukraine commemorates the victims of political repression. This date was established by a Presidential Decree on May 21, 2007, to honor the memory of the victims of political repressions under the communist regime.
Dr. Anatoliy POPOVSKYI, Doctor of Philology, Professor, and Professor of the Department of Ukrainian Studies and Foreign Languages at DSUIA, addressed the cadets. He shared personal recollections of how his family endured the repressions.
Iryna DROK, Acting Head of the Educational and Scientific Laboratory on Preventive Activity Research, Candidate of Legal Sciences, and Associate Professor, noted that the Ukrainian people have faced numerous hardships throughout their history, which continue to resonate amid the full-scale invasion.
The commemoration events aim to deepen knowledge of Ukrainian history, facilitate communication with eyewitnesses of historical events, and foster Ukrainian consciousness and civic awareness.
