The event was organized for representatives of specialized institutions and employees of the National Police of Dnipropetrovsk and Zaporizhzhia regions.
The training session was opened by the Rector’s Assistant on Gender Issues, Larysa Nalyvaiko, along with community mobilization specialists Mykhailo Karelin and Oleksiy Skvortsov.
The trainers included Associate Professor of the Department of Criminal Procedure and Strategic Investigations, expert on combating domestic violence Alina Harkusha, and Senior Lecturer of the Department of Humanities and Psychology of Police Activities, practical psychologist, and supervisor of NGO “SP Razom” Kateryna Mitchenko.
During the sessions, the trainers highlighted issues related to the regulatory framework for preventing domestic violence and protecting victims, as well as the existing risks in the field of gender-based violence associated with the martial law in Ukraine. The participants’ attention was focused on the key principles and tools for assisting victims, the specifics of applying the “Green Room” methodology, and the “Barnahus” model.
Upon request from the participants, the organization of corrective work with offenders and further efforts to improve the referral of offenders to the corrective program were also discussed.
The two-day training was organized by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Ukraine in partnership with the Dnipro State University of Internal Affairs within the framework of the project “EU4Recovery – Empowering Communities in Ukraine,” with financial support from the European Union.
Participants were awarded corresponding certificates.
