The conference “Simulation Medicine and Scenario-Based Learning for Emergency Care” was organized under the EU Erasmus+ Higher Education Program at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.
The project aims to improve training and the provision of first aid (including psychological) and emergency care through the implementation of innovative integrated training courses using scenario-based learning methodologies and simulation technologies for doctors, first responders, and those present at the scene of an incident. The Bukovinian State Medical University acted as the coordinator. The Dnipro State University of Internal Affairs was represented by Tactical-Special Training Department lecturers Oksana Myslyva and Stanislava Myroniuk.
The DSUIA lecturers shared with participants their experience in implementing the Simulation Medicine and Scenario-Based Learning for Emergency Care (SimS) project within their educational institution. A specific task of the university in this project is the development of a pre-medical training system based on scenarios for use in police training. The DSUIA representatives presented scenarios developed under the SimS project, which will be used for training cadets and active police officers undergoing advanced training at the university.
The scenarios pertain to the most typical situations involving injuries to victims, offenders, or the police officers themselves, in accordance with existing international standards. Oksana Myslyva and Stanislava Myroniuk emphasized that thanks to the SimS project, DSUIA received the necessary equipment to establish an emergency care training center for practicing tactical medicine scenarios. All of this contributes to the improvement of the educational process at DSUIA and, thanks to the ERASMUS+ program, will be disseminated to other educational institutions.
