Rector Oleksandr MORGUNOV’s Greeting on the Occasion of World Blood Donor Day

NEWS

On June 14, Ukraine and the world traditionally celebrate World Blood Donor Day. This day becomes a starting point for many to adopt a new habit – saving lives.

Today, we express our gratitude to everyone who selflessly helps save lives, to those who are the true Heroes of our time, whose humanity allows millions of people to be saved every year. This day is particularly important for Ukraine due to the armed aggression of the Russian Federation and the full-scale invasion of Ukrainian territory. During the war, the need for donated blood has increased by 40%.

Before the full-scale Russian aggression, Ukraine had about 320,000 blood donors. Today, around 500,000 people in Ukraine donate blood each year. On this day, attention is drawn to the necessity of regular, voluntary, and unpaid blood donations and its components, through which thousands of lives are saved: civilians, defenders, and protectors. By donating blood, a donor gives someone a chance at life, making an invaluable contribution to a good cause.

Remember: perhaps your blood will give life to someone.

You are the pride of the country and a lifeline for many people. We thank every donor for your calling!

Glory to Ukraine!

Together to Victory!

With respect,
Rector Oleksandr MORGUNOV
