Artem HUMEN, a student at the Driving School for Persons with Disabilities at Dnipro State University of Internal Affairs (DSUIA), has successfully obtained his category B driver’s license.
Artem has had a disability since childhood and has long dreamed of owning a car to enhance his mobility. Previously, he had no driving experience and relied on a two-wheeled vehicle for transportation. However, when he saw information about the “Driving School for Persons with Disabilities” on DSUIA’s social media, he did not hesitate to call the provided number. His main motivation was the potential to become more mobile in the city and feel more confident.
Artem chose to study the theory online and shared positive feedback about this format, stating that the theoretical instruction was engaging and effective, and he had no issues passing the theoretical exam. He practiced his driving skills in a specially equipped car with hand controls, following a convenient and flexible schedule, and he expressed satisfaction with the rides and the instructors’ expertise.
Currently, Artem’s profession is closely related to computers, but as of today, he proudly adds driving a car with an automatic transmission to his list of technical skills.
The “Driving School for Persons with Disabilities” is a project by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, implemented under the “Without Barriers” initiative by Ukraine’s First Lady, Olena ZELENSKA. The driving school at DSUIA invites students to train in vehicles with hand controls for categories B and C1. Registration documents can be submitted online.
