An event incorporating elements of hippotherapy was organized by the Psychological Support Department for cadets of Dnipropetrovsk State University of Internal Affairs (DSUIA).
Cadets had the opportunity to familiarize themselves with hippotherapy—a method of relaxation and stabilization. According to specialists, activities such as horseback riding, feeding horses, and spending time with them provide an opportunity to shift focus, “ground” oneself, and feel “in the moment.” During walking, a horse exhibits a unique range of movements, which researchers note has a positive impact on the central nervous system, psycho-emotional state, muscles, and spine of a person. Additionally, horses have a higher body temperature than humans, so contact with them and the warmth they emit help soften the rider’s muscles and relax the body.
The cadets mentioned that the beneficial time spent and the positive emotions gained contribute to the formation of motivation and incentives for scientific and educational activities.
