Category C1: DSUIA Driving School Opens Opportunities for Military Veterans

NEWS

Another student from the Driving School for Persons with Disabilities at the Dnipro State University of Internal Affairs (DSUIA) has received a C1 category driver’s license.

Oleksandr, who was injured in combat operations due to Russian aggression, joined the Driving School for Persons with Disabilities at DSUIA in late 2023 with the goal of obtaining a driver’s license. He started with category B, quickly mastering both theory and practice using a car with hand controls. After successfully passing the practical exam, Oleksandr continued his training with determination, choosing to pursue the next category. He shared that obtaining a C1 license significantly broadens his potential job search and employment opportunities. Oleksandr is considering starting his own logistics business, so having driving skills in both categories will be beneficial in the near future.

Oleksandr was congratulated on receiving his driver’s license by DSUIA Vice-Rector Ihor KOVALIOV.

This unique project by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine is implemented within the framework of the National Strategy for Creating a Barrier-Free Space and is initiated by the First Lady of Ukraine, Olena ZELENSKA, as part of the “Without Barriers” initiative. The project aims to provide social adaptation to public life and equal opportunities for everyone with disabilities (musculoskeletal disorders) who wishes to acquire driving skills. The students benefit from modern cars with hand controls and experienced instructors in both theory and practice.
The driving school offers training on a specially equipped truck (3.5-7.5 tons) with hand controls. The facility is fully equipped for comfortable accommodation, featuring ramps at the entrance, a separate bathroom, and a multimedia classroom.

The Driving School for Persons with Disabilities at DSUIA invites students to train on cars with hand controls. Registration documents can be submitted online.
