The conference took place from June 17 to 22, 2024, at Carleton University (Ottawa, Canada). The event was organized by iIIRG, the International Investigative Interviewing Research Group.
The conference gathered supporters of procedural interviewing from around the world, including scholars, law enforcement officials, and human rights advocates from the USA, Canada, the UK, Norway, Lithuania, Austria, Turkey, Thailand, and other countries. Ukraine was represented by members from the Office of the Prosecutor General, the Main Investigative Department of the National Police of Ukraine, the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine, the NGO “JustGroup,” and Victoria ROGALSKA, a professor from the Department of Criminal Procedure at DSUIA.
During the event, conference participants had the opportunity to exchange experiences on the implementation of this methodology in national law enforcement institutions. They also participated in workshops and masterclasses, where they practiced their interviewing skills using the procedural interview method alongside international experts. The Ukrainian delegation had the chance to inform participants about the implementation of procedural interviewing in national law enforcement activities, including during the investigation of war crimes. They also presented research on procedural interviewing, co-authored by the DSUIA professor, and shared future prospects.
