Four barrier-free safety spaces will be opened in the Dnipropetrovsk region, where rescuers, police officers, and doctors will teach children how to behave correctly in emergencies and provide first aid. The rector of DSUIA, Oleksandr MORGUNOV, participated in the presentation.
The first barrier-free safety space is scheduled to open in the Mykolaiv community in the Synelnykivskyi district in July 2024. Two more spaces will follow in the Novomoskovsk and Chumakivka communities. A multidisciplinary team of educators, doctors, police officers, rescuers, and psychologists will work with the children.
According to the deputy head of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Military Administration, Nadiya ZADOROZHNA, each space will have all the necessary amenities for people with disabilities. She emphasized that accessible education for all is the essence of barrier-free environments.
Soon, a mobile inclusive resource safety center, the Sensory Bus, will begin operation, providing assistance to children in remote areas of the region. According to the strategy’s author, Anna KYRYCHENKO, the spaces will teach fire and mine safety, how to provide emergency aid, and the basics of cybersecurity.
