A session was held for the cadets of the Faculty of Training Specialists for Pre-Trial Investigation Bodies of the National Police of Ukraine at the Dnipro State University of Internal Affairs.
Initiated by senior lecturer Mykola Repan from the Department of Administrative Law, Process, and Activities, the session was organized with practical workers from the Human Rights Compliance Sector of Police Department No. 7, Dniprovskyi District Police Department, GUNP in the Dnipropetrovsk Region.
Natalia Urman from the Department of Main Inspection and Human Rights Compliance, along with other specialists, introduced the cadets to the “Custody Records” system. This system allows for the automated recording of actions taken with detainees from the moment of arrest until their placement in a detention facility or release.
Natalia Urman emphasized the reasons for implementing the system, presented the most high-profile decisions of the European Court of Human Rights, and highlighted the importance of ensuring zero tolerance for cases of torture or ill-treatment of detainees.
