DSUIA’s Driving School for People with Disabilities Presented to Military Veterans

NEWS

Military veterans learned about the activities of the Driving School for People with Disabilities at the Dnipro State University of Internal Affairs (DSUIA) and met with its director.

The DSUIA Driving School has been operating for over a year, training more than 50 individuals who have received category B driving licenses, and some category C1. Two rehabilitating servicemen, Vyacheslav and Vlad, visited DSUIA to learn about the opportunities for retraining to drive vehicles with hand controls.

Director Yevhen Khokhlov showed them vehicles with manual and automatic transmissions, their controls, and gave them the opportunity to drive.

The veterans plan to start retraining at DSUIA to have more mobility options.

This unique project by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine is implemented within the framework of the National Strategy for the Creation of a Barrier-Free Space, initiated by First Lady Olena Zelenska. It aims to socially adapt and provide equal opportunities for all people with disabilities (mobility impairments) who wish to acquire driving skills.

The school offers modern vehicles with hand controls, experienced instructors, and a comfortable environment, including ramps, a separate restroom, and a multimedia classroom.

Documents for registration can be submitted online.
