Every day, the Driving School for People with Disabilities at DSUIA walks alongside its students toward a shared goal: to provide each individual, whether they enter the classroom or receive services online, with the opportunity to move freely, be independent of routes and transportation, and feel confident because they have now become Drivers.
Some traveled miles from frontline cities in Donetsk to attend each class, driven by their dream. Some made the only right decision for themselves and were on the front lines within 48 hours of the full-scale invasion.
Some knew they had the support of their family and loved ones behind them, enabling them to overcome the challenges of adaptation and rehabilitation and now confidently walk on their familiar prosthetic leg to their car door.
Some joke about their decision to join the Driving School for People with Disabilities, saying they never had the chance to get a license before because “…back then, I had my own legs and could walk, not drive, but now one leg is someone else’s.”
Some grumble about the peculiarities of traffic in Dnipro and the dense road traffic, but they still pass and obtain a category C1 license on their first try.
All students of the Driving School for People with Disabilities share one thing in common – they are all satisfied with both the learning process and the quality of instruction. They have become almost friends with the instructors and have found that theory is not as dull as it seems! Graduates of the DSUIA Driving School advise newcomers to study diligently and not forget about self-education: familiarizing themselves with additional materials and expert advice. Most importantly, every student notes that obtaining categories B and C1 significantly expands their job search horizons and employment opportunities.
