In a year and a half of operation, the Driving School at Dnipro State University of Internal Affairs (DSUIA) has enrolled over 50 students. Each graduate joins the large family of drivers, earning licenses in categories B or C1.
Elyor, a military serviceman who defended Ukraine after his mandatory service, recalls the morning of February 24, 2022: “A comrade called with alarming news – explosions were already going off outside, and sirens were wailing.” Now a veteran, he confidently uses a sports prosthesis, engages in sports (including rowing), involves his daughter in morning runs, and works full-time. His work is directly connected to prosthetics manufacturing, and he firmly believes that his daily efforts contribute to helping his comrades who increasingly need this type of assistance. Elyor suffered a severe injury and lost a limb at the end of 2022.
Having long considered obtaining a driver’s license, Elyor did not hesitate to start his training after full rehabilitation. He mentioned that the theory was more challenging than the practical driving, and although there was some nervousness, he remarked, «…after the front, almost nothing is scary anymore.»
Oksana, who has mobility impairments, also took her driving exam. Determined to achieve her goal of driving her child to school in her own car, she made a promise to herself and fulfilled her dream by obtaining her driver’s license.
To congratulate the students, DSUIA Vice-Rector Ihor KOVALYOV and the Head of the Driving School for People with Disabilities, Yevhen KHOKHLOV, visited the service center.
We sincerely congratulate the graduates and wish them a smooth road and future achievements!
