A five-day event for law students was organized by JustGroup as part of the “Transformational Recovery for Human Security in Ukraine” project.
Law students from 3rd to 6th years were invited to participate through a competitive selection process. Vadym Bolharenko, a cadet from the Faculty of Training Specialists for Pre-Trial Investigation Units of the National Police of Ukraine, was the only cadet from the Ministry of Internal Affairs’ educational institutions to join the legal event.
During the school, the cadet attended interactive lectures, practical classes, and discussions. Topics included the role of criminal justice in ensuring fundamental human rights and freedoms under extreme conditions, the role of justice during wartime, and new methods of investigating war crimes.
Participants engaged in analyzing real cases and a moot court regarding the selection of preventive measures. The sessions involved practical workers from various areas of criminal justice, including the Supreme Court, High Anti-Corruption Court, Prosecutor General’s Office, National Police of Ukraine, Ministry of Justice of Ukraine, and the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine.
“For me, as a future investigator, participating in the Summer School was a unique experience. It was an opportunity not only to demonstrate the knowledge I had already acquired but also to interact with practitioners who are personally contributing to the transformation of the system,” says Vadym Bolharenko.
At the end of the event, participants received certificates and commemorative gifts. The project is funded by the Government of Japan and implemented by UNDP in Ukraine in partnership with the Supreme Court, UCU School of Law, and the Faculty of Law of NaUKMA.
