Psychologists from the Dnipro State University of Internal Affairs (DSUIA) supported first-year cadets throughout the two-week training camp at every stage.
The camp focused on fostering interaction between cadets and assessing their motivation. A major goal was to develop professional competencies and moral values essential for further education and service in the National Police of Ukraine.
The adaptation training session “Teambuilding” was conducted in two stages, during which cadets learned to work together to achieve goals and form a cohesive unit. Various techniques were used, including art therapy and themed exercises.
The first exercise, “Introduction Circle,” allowed each participant to introduce themselves, fostering an atmosphere of openness and trust within the group.
The second teambuilding exercise, “The Net,” encouraged team cohesion and responsibility. Participants had to pass each other through a net without touching the ropes, carefully coordinating their movements and spatial awareness.
In the exercise “Trust,” participants fell backward into the hands of their comrades, developing a sense of responsibility toward each team member.
The university’s psychologists also conducted motivational sessions on the topic “Self-Organization and Self-Discipline.” The goal was to teach cadets how to manage their time effectively and develop the skills necessary for successful academic and service-related activities. Psychological testing was also conducted, allowing the evaluation of cadets’ psychological traits and the early identification of potential issues.
Additionally, psychologists accompanied the cadets during field trips to the training grounds, where they practiced exercises to stabilize their emotional state and studied the algorithm for providing initial psychological assistance.
