Participants included students of the Dnipro State University of Internal Affairs and pupils of the Dnipro Lyceum of Security Focus and National-Patriotic Education of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. The attendees were greeted by Vice-Rector Ihor KOVALIOV and honored guests.
The event was held with the goal of promoting patriotic education and encouraging a sports culture among higher education students. After performing the National Anthem of Ukraine and observing a moment of silence to honor the fallen, DSUIA Vice-Rector Ihor KOVALIOV addressed the audience.
Ihor KOVALIOV noted that DSUIA offers over 10 sports clubs, and its athletes participate in European and world championships. The Vice-Rector emphasized that physical training is essential for fulfilling all the tasks faced by police officers.
Deputy Head of the Youth and Sports Department of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Military Administration, Andrii PANCHENKO, congratulated the attendees and stated that sports foster willpower, character, and help overcome difficulties.
Deputy Director of the Department – Head of the Sports Department of the Humanitarian Policy Department of the Dnipro City Council, Oleksandr OSIPOV, thanked DSUIA for its contributions to sports development, noting that the university nurtures distinguished athletes who represent Ukraine on global podiums.
Oksana BOTURCHUK, a merited master of sports of Ukraine in athletics, Paralympic champion of 2008, and four-time silver and bronze medalist of the Summer Paralympic Games in 2008, 2012, 2016, 2020, and 2024, advised students to make physical exercise a part of their lives, as sports bring health, beauty, and confidence.
University students and staff were recognized with certificates from the Dnipropetrovsk Regional State Administration, commendations from the Dnipro City Mayor, and university certificates. The institution’s sports teams were also awarded valuable prizes.
Additionally, the event featured demonstrations of performances by higher education students.
After the event, pupils of the Dnipro Lyceum of Security Focus and National-Patriotic Education of the Ministry of Internal Affairs had the opportunity to meet Paralympic champion Oksana BOTURCHUK, engage in conversation with her, collect autographs, and get answers to all their questions.
