Table Tennis for Military Veterans: Sports Training Continues at DSUIA

NEWS, Sport for military veterans

Rehabilitation sports training sessions are being held by the Department of Special Physical Training of the Dnipro State University of Internal Affairs (DSUIA).

Table tennis is not only an Olympic sport but also well-suited for the rehabilitation of individuals with disabilities. Through table tennis, athletes improve their cardiovascular system, strengthen their muscle structure, and enhance cognitive abilities, as the brain is required to operate in a “here and now” mode, making split-second decisions to return the ball.

For over six months, DSUIA has been hosting training sessions for people with disabilities and military veterans. The athletes are coached by the Ukrainian Table Tennis Champion, Vasyl KOVAL.

These rehabilitation sessions are attended by regular participants who say that sports provide an excellent opportunity to feel part of a team and stay in good athletic shape.

The training is held as part of the Ministry of Internal Affairs’ Department of Education, Science, and Sports project “Friendly Support.” #friendly_support
