Cadets from the Dnipro State University of Internal Affairs (DSUIA) claimed 8 prize-winning spots at the regional Sambo wrestling competition.
Over the weekend, the “Dnipropetrovsk Region Sambo Wrestling Cup” took place in Kryvyi Rih. More than 100 wrestlers from across the region competed in various weight categories. The DSUIA cadets achieved the following results:
1st place – Dmytro Kirnos (SI-231) and Tymofii Andrianov (CP-344);
2nd place – Mykyta Kaliberda (SI-142) and Oleksandr Yakovlev (PI-245);
3rd place – Yevhen Sitkovskyi (CP-234), Ramil Mirzaiev (CP-235), Oleksandr Pyzhivskyi, and Anatolii Pukhovyi (SI-231).
Finishing fifth in the tournament standings were cadets Oleksandr Vyryshev, Denys Lushpaiev, Serhii Badlo, Bohdan Khomenko, and Yaroslav Pukas.
Sambo combines the most effective techniques and tactics from various combat sports, martial arts, and traditional wrestling styles. In addition to teaching self-defense without weapons, Sambo develops strong character, resilience, and endurance, fostering the moral and willpower qualities essential for a future law enforcement officer.
