The event was organized by the “Istyna” Legal Clinic, based at the Educational and Scientific Institute of Law and Innovative Education at Dnipropetrovsk State University of Internal Affairs (DSUIA).
The webinar featured contributions from Oleksandr KOTOV, Head of the Zaporizhzhia-Nikopol Department of Free Legal Aid, and Tetiana KAVERINA, Chief Specialist of the Department for Missing Persons under Special Circumstances at the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine.
The event was opened by the director of the “Istyna” Legal Clinic, Volodymyr KIYAN, who emphasized that the right to legal aid is a fundamental human right guaranteed by the state and a constitutional right to qualified legal support.
Participants included first- to third-year students of the “Law” and “Law Enforcement” programs, as well as members of the “Civilist” research group from the Department of Civil Law Disciplines and the “Istyna” Legal Clinic. The presentations covered legal issues surrounding the provision of free legal aid to military personnel and war victims, the legal status of conscripts and reservists, and the state’s role in implementing policies aligned with international humanitarian law across Ukraine. They also discussed the coordination of efforts to locate individuals missing under special circumstances.
The webinar concluded by underscoring that Ukraine’s priority is not only to develop effective legal aid policies but also to ensure their practical implementation and proper enforcement of relevant legal regulations.
