The event was organized by representatives of the Dnipro State University of Internal Affairs (DSUIA) in collaboration with Mykola Chmykh, head of the Technical Committee of the Automobile Federation of Ukraine and director of the “M-Sport” driving school. Participants included members of practical units of the National Police of Ukraine, the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the Combined Brigade of the Special Police Units “KORD,” and the Special Assault Brigade “Lyut.”
The training aimed to reduce risks when driving in challenging road conditions. Participants studied the features of off-road driving, expanded their knowledge and practical driving skills, improved their “feel” of the vehicle, and gained a deeper understanding of its capabilities and limitations. The participants trained in two modules using eight vehicles, performing exercises on safe braking, driving on slopes and ascents, as well as practicing off-road techniques, driving on sand, mud, and other difficult surfaces.
In the context of martial law, the importance of motor vehicles has increased as they ensure the daily activities of the military and enhance the mobility of Security and Defense Forces. Vehicles are used regardless of weather conditions and road quality, meaning that driving often takes place on various road categories, including off-road. Military drivers must have clear skills in safe driving, knowledge of vehicle technical conditions, and the ability to perform timely and high-quality maintenance in any conditions.
Thanks to the training, participants significantly improved their off-road driving skills, enhanced their understanding of vehicle behavior in unusual situations, and honed their ability to recognize potential hazards while driving in difficult conditions.
