During a two-day visit to Dnipro State University of Internal Affairs (DSUIA), Andrii KOSTIUK, the Head of the Psychological Support Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, held a consultative meeting with mental tutors.
The event gathered mental tutors from the National Guard of Ukraine, the National Police of Ukraine, the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, as well as university psychologists. DSUIA’s First Vice-Rector, Ihor MAGDALINA, opened the meeting by emphasizing the importance of working with wounded personnel from the National Police, National Guard, and State Emergency Service, who are undergoing reintegration and post-isolation procedures in healthcare institutions.
During the meeting, Andrii KOSTIUK highlighted the need for expanding the “Mental Tutor” project to effectively implement psychological support for personnel. The group also discussed the operation of psychological practice centers currently functioning within the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the National Guard, and other affiliated agencies.
Andrii KOSTIUK evaluated the state of psychological support and the work of mental tutors within the Ministry of Internal Affairs in the Dnipropetrovsk region, particularly focusing on practical aspects of their duties. Participants, including mental health practitioners who directly work with individuals requiring psychological support, identified key challenges they face during rehabilitation and assistance efforts.
Additionally, the possibility of involving cadets from departmental higher education institutions in the “Mental Tutor” project was discussed, with a focus on those cadets interested in obtaining certification.
Andrii KOSTIUK also visited the Dnipro Security-Oriented and National-Patriotic Education Lyceum, where he held separate meetings with educators, instructors, and members of the leadership team. The necessity of specialized training for lyceum staff was a key topic of discussion.
