As part of career guidance efforts, lyceum students continue to learn about the roles of specific units within the National Police.
A meeting was organized for students of the Dnipro Lyceum for Security and National-Patriotic Education of the Ministry of Internal Affairs with Lieutenant Colonel of Police Olena Tkachova, head of the Educational Security Service Organization Sector of the National Police Department in the Dnipropetrovsk region.
The practitioner explained the role of Educational Security Officers (ESOs), specially trained police officers who work alongside school administrations to oversee a range of security measures. These include monitoring access controls and ensuring the safe evacuation of children during air-raid alerts.
The speaker emphasized that beyond policing skills, ESOs must excel in communication, understand child psychology, and swiftly identify, assess, and neutralize threats to the safety of students, teachers, and staff. Students reinforced their learning through an interactive game.
The Educational Security Service is a component of the Educational Institution Security Concept adopted by the Ukrainian Government on April 7, 2022. Its goal is to create a safe environment in educational institutions throughout Ukraine, both during martial law and in the post-war period.
