Dnipro Lyceum Students Explore the Work of Cyber Police

MIA Lyceum

At the Dnipro Lyceum for Security and National-Patriotic Education of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, students met with representatives of the Cyber Police Department of the National Police of Ukraine in the Dnipropetrovsk region.

During the session, the students learned that the Cyber Police Department serves as an interregional territorial body of the National Police of Ukraine, responsible for implementing state policies in combating cybercrime and conducting operational and investigative activities.

Practitioners emphasized that one of the main missions of the cyber police is to create a safe environment for active internet users. Together with the students, they discussed the principles of ensuring Ukraine’s cybersecurity, the emergence of cybercriminals, and the methods to counteract their activities.

The cyber police officers shared their experiences in conducting joint police operations, targeting individuals involved in server attacks on large companies, particularly through the use of self-developed ransomware viruses.

The students were introduced to the work of specialists known as “coders,” who design, update, maintain, and enhance the functionality of Telegram bots and phishing resources. They also learned about appropriate actions to take when receiving suspicious messages.

In conclusion, the practitioners highlighted the threats and challenges facing internet users and provided effective advice on avoiding becoming victims of cybercrime.
