The Department of Criminal Procedure at Dnipro State University of Internal Affairs organized a hackathon as part of the international campaign “16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence.”
The event was attended by cadets from the Faculty of Training Specialists for Pretrial Investigation Units of the National Police of Ukraine and took place at the university’s training ground, the “Child-Friendly Crisis Room.”
Moderators included Viktoriia ROHALSKA, a professor at the Department of Criminal Procedure and police major, and Viktoriia RUFANOVA, a criminal investigator at the Division of Crimes Against Life and Health of the Investigation Department of the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Dnipropetrovsk Region, also a police major.
Future investigators were introduced to the “Guidelines for Handling Victims of Sexual Violence During Stabilization Measures and Investigative Actions Caused by the Armed Aggression of the Russian Federation in Ukraine.”
The hackathon program covered topics such as the forms of sexual violence, the nuances of their classification, and investigative techniques. Cadets worked in teams to solve practical tasks, develop algorithms, and strategize the conduct of procedural actions. Guided by the moderators, they practiced interviewing victims using procedural interview techniques.
The top-performing participants of the hackathon were awarded prizes.
