Practical Aspects of OSINT: Training for DSUIA Cadets

A series of practice-oriented training sessions on criminal analysis continues at the Dnipro State University of Internal Affairs (DSUIA) for final-year cadets.

This time, the session was conducted by Maksym KAHITIN, Head of the Criminal Analysis Department of the Zaporizhzhia Region National Police Headquarters, and Dmytro KRYVYI, Head of the Analytical Work Division, both seasoned police officers.

The focus of the session was on practical aspects of OSINT (Open Source Intelligence), a tool for gathering intelligence from open sources. The lecturers highlighted methods for collecting and analyzing information, which plays a crucial role in fulfilling operational tasks.

Attention was paid to techniques for obtaining relevant data from open sources, processing this information, and drawing actionable conclusions. The practical application of OSINT results for making informed decisions and advancing investigations was thoroughly discussed.

The cadets gained in-depth knowledge of OSINT principles and advantages. During a discussion with the representatives from the Zaporizhzhia police headquarters, they explored the nuances of utilizing open sources in law enforcement activities and adapting these methods to current challenges.

Such sessions equip cadets with modern investigative and analytical techniques, preparing them for effective work in the law enforcement field.
