Training sessions were held at the Department of Tactical and Special Training of the Educational and Scientific Institute for Training Specialists for Preventive Activity Units of the National Police of Ukraine at the Dnipro State University of Internal Affairs.
The event was opened by DSUIA Vice-Rector, Police Lieutenant Colonel Ihor KOVALIOV, who expressed gratitude to the international partners, TetraTech, for their collaboration and support. Representing TetraTech at the event was David PARKER, Head of Interaction with the National Police of Ukraine.
Ihor KOVALIOV emphasized that training provided by TetraTech, a global expert in demining under challenging conditions, equips law enforcement officers with essential practical skills for post-war safety efforts in Ukraine. These skills can also be integrated into the university’s educational programs.
During the training, DSUIA instructors learned to use the semi-remote Hook&Line demining system, operate metal detectors, and mark safe paths and routes in minefields. Participants were also trained to identify and mark areas where explosive devices were discovered.
Special attention was given to mastering algorithms for non-technical site surveys and procedures for responding to explosive device discoveries.
Upon completion, all participants received certifications from TetraTech, validating their competencies in the field of humanitarian demining.
