Sports training as an integral element of comprehensive rehabilitation for military veterans has been ongoing at the university for over a year.
Veterans undergoing treatment and rehabilitation in Dnipro have the opportunity to engage in sports at Dnipro State University of Internal Affairs (DSUIA). Available activities include adaptive volleyball, martial arts, table tennis, and gym workouts.
DSUIA has already established a community of regular participants, and a new group of attendees has been actively forming since the beginning of the year. January 2025 marked a milestone with the expansion of participants’ geography: a joint training session was held with representatives of the Veterans’ Council from the Solone Territorial Community of the Dnipropetrovsk Region.
The athletes were coached by Vasyl Koval, Ukraine’s Table Tennis Champion. He shared professional insights, demonstrated proper racket grip techniques, and helped participants master various strokes, enhancing their skills.
Table tennis is not just a physical activity but also an effective method of physical and psychological rehabilitation. It aids in restoring coordination, improving fine motor skills, reaction speed, and overall physical condition. At the same time, the game reduces stress, strengthens emotional well-being, and encourages social interaction.
During the training sessions, veterans have the opportunity to not only improve their table tennis skills but also receive support from coaches and peers.
The event was organized within the framework of the Ministry of Internal Affairs’ “Friendly Support” project.
