To familiarize cadets with the concept of bullying, as well as methods for its prevention and counteraction, a practical training session was conducted for students of the Dnipro State University of Internal Affairs.
The event was organized by Alina HORODNYCHENKO, a psychologist from the Psychological Support Unit of DSUIA, and targeted first-year cadets of the Faculty for Training Specialists for Criminal Police Units of the National Police of Ukraine.
During the session, participants explored the mechanisms of bullying within a collective, types and consequences of harassment, and aggressive behavior. Practical advice was provided on recognizing the signs of bullying, preventing any form of pressure in a timely and constructive manner, and fostering a supportive environment.
According to Alina HORODNYCHENKO, the training demonstrated a high level of engagement and contributed to the development of healthy communication skills among cadets. The participants actively engaged in discussions, openly shared personal experiences, and reported that they gained a deeper understanding of the feelings of bullying victims after completing the proposed exercises.
“This training helped me understand the importance of supporting my peers and not standing aside when someone faces a challenging situation. Everyone realized their role in preventing bullying and the significance of taking an active stance both at the university and beyond,” noted one of the participants.
Regular organization of such events is one of the most effective tools for raising cadets’ awareness. These training sessions help establish healthy relationships among young people, as a collective based on support and mutual respect is the key to effective interaction in both interpersonal and professional environments.
