The Dnipro State University of Internal Affairs continues to actively support military veterans by offering comprehensive rehabilitation and social adaptation programs.
Recently, the university expanded its range of sports activities by introducing adaptive basketball training. The training sessions welcomed veterans who, in early February 2025, will represent Ukraine at the Invictus Games. The Invictus Games is an international sporting event featuring adaptive sports for veterans and military personnel who have sustained injuries, illnesses, or wounds while serving. Among the disciplines included in the Games is adaptive basketball.
Adaptive basketball provides a unique opportunity for individuals with disabilities to engage in an active sport, experience team spirit, and boost their energy and morale. Experienced instructors lead the training sessions, taking into account the individual needs of each participant.
In addition to adaptive basketball, DSUIA offers veterans a wide range of other sports activities, including:
• Personal training in the gym: tailored programs aimed at improving health, recovery from injuries, and overall physical fitness.
• Table tennis sessions: promoting coordination, reaction speed, and psychological relief.
• Workouts in sports halls: activities on various training equipment designed to strengthen muscles and increase endurance.
• Martial arts training: enhancing strength, stamina, discipline, and self-confidence.
DSUIA provides all the necessary conditions for veterans to engage in sports, restore their health, and improve their quality of life.
This initiative is part of the Ministry of Internal Affairs’ “Friendly Support” project.
