The event was organized by Mykola REPAN, Senior Lecturer of the Department of Administrative Law and Procedure at Dnipro State University of Internal Affairs (DSUIA).
During the session, cadets met with:
Nataliia URMAN, Senior Inspector for Special Assignments of the Department of Human Rights Monitoring in Police Activities (based in Dnipropetrovsk Region) of the Department of Human Rights Compliance of the National Police of Ukraine, Police Major.
Oleksandra KOVALENKO, Inspector of the Department for Organizing the Activities of Temporary Detention Facilities and Monitoring Actions with Detainees at the Main Directorate of the National Police in Dnipropetrovsk Region, Police Senior Lieutenant.
The session emphasized the importance of strict adherence to human rights in all areas of police activity. Nataliia URMAN highlighted problematic issues that arise in the activities of the National Police, particularly in handling citizens’ complaints about alleged misconduct by police officers.
In addition, the cadets were introduced to the functioning of the “Custody Records” information subsystem. This system records all actions taken by law enforcement officers regarding a detainee from the moment of their actual detention, ensuring the protection of the rights of all participants in the process from unlawful actions and baseless accusations.
The meeting proved highly productive and sparked interest among the cadets, prompting plans to continue similar sessions involving practical professionals.
