On the occasion of International Holocaust Remembrance Day, attendees honored the memory of millions who perished due to Nazi atrocities. The event was joined by students from the Dnipro Lyceum of Security Focus and National-Patriotic Education of the Ministry of Internal Affairs named after O. Hostishchev.
Participants included cadets and students of the Institute of Law and Innovative Education at Dnipro State University of Internal Affairs (DSUIA).
The event began with a moment of silence. The lecture was delivered by Yuliia ZAVGORODNIA, Associate Professor of the Department of Theory and History of State and Law, Constitutional Law, and Human Rights, and Police Lieutenant Colonel. She discussed the Holocaust, during which the Nazis exterminated approximately six million Jews, including 1.5 million from the territory of modern Ukraine.
Yuliia ZAVGORODNIA highlighted the significance of January 27, International Holocaust Remembrance Day, marking the date in 1945 when the 1st Ukrainian Front liberated one of the largest Nazi death camps, Auschwitz-Birkenau.
Attendees agreed on the importance of not only remembering these pivotal moments in history but also understanding the causes and consequences of such tragedies. They emphasized the need to recognize the profound scale of the Holocaust to prevent the recurrence of such atrocities.
