Sport as a Lifestyle: Table Tennis Training for Military Veterans at DSUIA

NEWS, Sport for military veterans

A table tennis training session for military veterans took place at Dnipro State University of Internal Affairs. The event was organized by the Department of Special Physical Training.

Table tennis is one of the most popular and accessible sports, known for improving coordination, reaction speed, and endurance. Regular training positively impacts overall physical health, strengthens muscles, and enhances well-being. Due to its low injury risk and minimal health restrictions, it is considered a universal sport suitable for all ages.

For nearly a year, DSUIA has been hosting table tennis sessions for veterans, and since early 2025, representatives of the Veterans’ Council of Solonianska Territorial Community in the Dnipropetrovsk region have been actively participating.

The training was led by Ukrainian table tennis champion Vasyl KOVAL, who helped participants master proper racket grips, basic strokes, ball serves, and defensive techniques. Athletes also had the opportunity to improve their skills using a new sports device—a ball-serving machine.

Participants highlighted that such training sessions not only help maintain physical fitness but also provide a sense of community, positive emotions, and psychological support.

The event was held as part of the “Friendly Support” project by the Department of Education, Science, and Sports of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
