Unbreakable Athletes: Another Table Tennis Training Session for Military Veterans at DSUIA

NEWS, Sport for military veterans

The Department of Special Physical Training at Dnipro State University of Internal Affairs (DSUIA) organized a table tennis training session for military veterans.

For nearly a year, DSUIA has been hosting weekly training sessions, during which a core group of participants has formed. Veterans note that these sessions not only improve their physical fitness but also help them find like-minded individuals. The training is led by Vasyl KOVAL, Ukrainian table tennis champion.

The athletes also had the opportunity to enhance their skills using new sports equipment—a ball-feeding machine that allows for full-fledged training even without a sparring partner. This modern tool enables the coach to observe and correct the athletes’ mistakes effectively.

Recently, representatives from the Veterans’ Council of the Solonian Territorial Community in the Dnipropetrovsk region began participating in the sessions, significantly expanding the geographic diversity of attendees.

According to experts, table tennis is one of the least traumatic sports with numerous benefits. Regular training helps strengthen the cardiovascular and respiratory systems, improve vision, cognitive abilities, and overall physical fitness.

Moreover, such activities offer veterans an opportunity to pursue sports, motivate them towards an active lifestyle, and facilitate social integration.

The event was held as part of the “Friendly Support” project by the Department of Education, Science, and Sports of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
